Frosted Events Harry Potter Birthday Party
This weekend we had two big parties and both turned out so amazing I could hardly wait to post the pictures.
Our Harry Potter party was more than magical. Everything turned out amazing. It was the perfect theme for our turning 8 birthday boy. The kids really had a blast, and so did I from planning to party!
I started gathering ideas and details for the party a couple of weeks ago.
I made a registry for all the kid’s to sign in as they arrived. Also turned out to be a great keepsake for the birthday boy.
Printed off the Hogwarts school symbol and pasted it to a piece of scrapbook cardstock and glued in old style yellowed paper inside.
After signing in we led each “student” to the transformation booth where they received their robes and glasses. The robes I made from XL mens t shirts slit down the middle and sewn. I ironed on a printed off patch of the Hogwarts school crest to the pocket and attached gold rope detail to the collar.
After each student was transformed we led them to Olivanders Wand Shop to pick out a wand.
Then we started the sorting ceremony where they each pulled a card from the sorting hat to see which house they were assigned to. I designed the sorting cards with house name and emblem.
After everyone was sorted into houses we headed over to Professor Snape’s Potion Class. I designed and printed off the sign for the table. Test tubes from the dollar store were labeled and filled with food coloring and gummy eyeballs, rat tails, ants, etc….. Each student had his own spell book to look up spells to mix and try. We ended the class with an invisible spell (poprocks and soda) that the kids all had to drink. It was quite a hit!
After potions class we took everyone outside for a game of quidditch. I found these gold twined christmas ornament balls at the dollar store, along with brooms and these extended arm thingy grabbers. All worked out amazingly for our competition. We set the balls at one end of the yard and lined the kids up at the other in teams by house. They had to ride their brooms to the end and pick up the gold balls with the grabbers and return them to the start, passing off to the next. They all loved this game! It was so much fun we attracted other neighborhood kids who wanted to join in the fun!
Everyone had definitely worked up an appetite so we took a snack break.
