When  we got the call about a rock party  we didn’t blink (we’ve done quite a few rockstar/rock band parties!) until the birthday boy’s mom explained her son loved rockS, as in rocks and minerals!     But with a little imagination we came up with some awesome ideas and the party ended up being one of our best ever.     We used cutout rocks to spell out happy birthday  over rock print paper for the table and spread out lots of river rocks and stones.    Printed out “pet rock” labels for the favor boxes.  As for the fun stuff, we had the kid’s pair up and plow into excavation kits.  Each excavation brick took some hard work to chisel out the hidden treasures.  Then the kid’s polished up their stones and started their own rock collections.    Next we painted river rocks to be housed in the  brown PET ROCK favor boxes.   Lastly, the birthday boy broke open some geodes and shared the gold nuggets with all his guests.  After some pizza while mom was prepping the cake we played ROCK BINGO.  I made some rock bingo cards that had pictures and names of  rocks and gems.  The kids used the table rocks to cover the one’s we called out.  Our sneaky little geology lesson was a big hit!  We have to agree…. Rocks really can be GEODES of fun!
